A Little Digg Will Do Ya

April 30, 2007 |

Clocking in at 465 diggs yesterday, SEO’Brien went down for the count, unable to handle the hundreds of hits per second. My apologies to those that tried to reach the site, I’ve moved the server to a different host and we’re alive and kicking again. Here’s the article

Not About Self-aggrandizement
This experience made me wonder if anyone has come across an Digg article distribution curve. I’ve had hundreds of posts listed on digg; few break 10 diggs while one languishes until it hits the magic number that deems it popular and it takes off. Certainly, this is a result of most of my content not being worthy of the homepage but, having experienced Digg first hand now, it seems as likely that a curve would look very much like search’s long tail with few articles receiving significant volume while the majority receive few diggs (since they never make it past the digg’s Upcoming page). What can be done to support good articles that merely need some promotion?
